Digital Spy: Evanna Lynch - Luna Lovegood
What would you like to see happen to Luna in the last book?
"I can't really say that, because JK Rowling has told me some things, so if I
say what I hope, you will think that's what happens. [But] I'd like to see her
find more people like her, who would get her. I know Harry, Ron and Hermione,
all the other five, really like her, but have never met anyone just like her,
who really gets her."
When did you meet JK Rowling?
"30th March 2006. It was very special. We were on the set getting ready and
quite a normal day, as normal as it can be. I was in the hair and makeup
department. I was talking to Tom Felton and that was the first time I'd met him,
so like any fan I was excited, and then she walked in. I couldn't believe it for
a minute, I just stared at her, and she stepped back. I jumped up and I hugged
her and asked her lots of questions. The time passed very quickly. They didn't
warn me! She just pounced."
Did she tell you anything about Luna that was useful for you trying to play
her?
"Most things about her I already get, but she reassured me that Luna's very
honest and she's not ashamed...she told me that she's aware that everyone thinks
she's odd and a bit freaked out by her, but it's not going to make her change.
She knows that eventually she'll find her place and find people who she's
supposed to be with. She's happy just waiting."
Are you still a fan as much as ever, more or less?
"More! It just keeps growing. I have never stopped being a fan. I'm going to be
queueing for Deathly Hallows, I have had to tone it down a bit, because
at home I was an extreme fan, using the swear words that they use and just cos
people didn't understand that, everything would relate to it. All my homework in
Irish, we'd do sentences and I'd try and write them about Hogwarts. But now if I
do that people are like 'you're just trying to bring attention to the fact
you're in a film', so I can't do that."
What powers would you like to have in your real life?
"I would like to be an Animagus, because it's very handy, if you want to hide
for a bit and explore things. And also get to know more animals, cos I can't
understand them but I'm sure they have a lot to say. I'd like to talk with them
and then tell people what they say."
